A Great Beer Bar in Murray Hill – Finally!

The streets of New York City’s Murray Hill neighborhood are lined with cookie-cutter bars, filled with huge plasma TVs and an over abundance of tight graphic t-shirts… For this reason, I never drink in my own neighborhood – until now!
Last night I found a great new spot, Cask Bar + Kitchen. The atmosphere is great for post-work drinks, dimly lit, but doesn’t leave you searching for a cell phone back light to read the menu.
They’ve got 12 different quality draught beers! Everything from my local favorite Bluepoint Toasted Lager …

Beer of the Week: Scotch Silly

How could you NOT want one of these after just reading the name? The product of a recent Tap That “researching” foray, Scotch Silly was recommended to me by the bartender at Resto. This recommendation was quickly seconded by The Girl To My Left. Both have my gratitude. This beer was fantastic, and really put me in a great mood for the rest of the day. Ah, mood-altering chemicals, where would I be without you? Probably rich and successful.

Beer of the Week: Magic Hat Circus Boy

I really like Magic Hat. The brewery’s ubiquitous #9 is seemingly always there to rescue me when faced with a daunting selection of crap beers. Caps should not be complex. They should exist in a binary state of “open” or “closed.” Actually, scrap binary, because I am pretty …

Your JETS Beer Playoff Companion

Beer and football go together just like beer and everything else in my life. This season’s been extra special for me because my Beloved New York Jets are headed to the AFC Championship game for the first time since the 1998 season where they subsequently committed 6 turnovers and lost the Broncos, but we won’t talk about that. Anyway, I will certainly be watching on Sunday. Watching and drinking beer. To assist you in joining me, I’ve listed a few recommendations on what you should be drinking this Sunday.
Dogfish …

Beer of the Week: Czar Imperial Stout

This week I picked up the Czar Imperial Stout from Avery Brewing Company in Colorado. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized…

Beer of the Week: The Poet Oatmeal Stout

This week’s beer is an oatmeal stout out of New Holland Brewing in Michigan. If you’ve never had an oatmeal stout before I should probably say that it won’t taste like oatmeal, and if you say you can really taste the oatmeal you are either a liar or on drugs.

As you might guess, we here at Tap That spend a lot of time around beer. We can’t help it if some of that beer somehow finds its way into our mouths. It’s only natural – we drink beer like the moon affects the tides. I know that analogy doesn’t work and I don’t care. I blame beer.
